CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR PAID ACT INTERNSHIP

Deadline: April 8, 2016

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) is calling for applications for a six-month full-time internship funded by The National Lotteries Commission (NLC).

This Johannesburg-based opportunity will see the successful candidate gain hands-on and significant practical experience, as they work closely with the ACT team on their Scholarships Programme between May and October 2016.

ACT is seeking a young graduate with a keen interest in arts administration and the performing arts. The internship will offer training that will build upon the intern’s theoretical knowledge in an applied setting, which will contrast theory with practice.

The internship is designed to refine the writing, verbal and analytical skills of the intern, while fostering a sense of professionalism. A strong work ethic and industry best practice will also be imparted on the chosen graduate.

“In addition to gaining valuable relevant experience, the internship is a stepping stone to establishing a career in the arts. The networking skills and access to information and knowledge hold great potential for an eager young arts administrator,” says Pieter Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of ACT.

Throughout this six-month long opportunity, the intern will be challenged to contemplate matters relating to project implementation, logistics, financial management, marketing, monitoring and evaluation, data collection, analysis and reporting. These invaluable skills will help separate the intern from their peers, both on paper and in practical application.

The funding from the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) will ensure the intern isn’t distracted by the need to make an income outside of the ACT offices, enabling them to fully immerse themselves into the internship and all it has to offer.
