BEST OF HOLLYWOOD ON M-NET!



With a stunning line-up of exclusive award-winning series, M-Net is starting the year off with a bang. Direct from Hollywood comes some of the most talked about shows that promises to keep viewers on their couches for the long- but wonderfully entertaining- months of January and February.

Here’s quick summary of the upcoming M-Net 101 slate this January:

A prime time favourite Blue Bloods returns to M-Net with season 8 this January on Wednesdays at 20h00. One of the longest running crime dramas, Blue Bloods follows a multigenerational family of cops dedicated to law enforcement in New York City.

With or without the cape, the whole family can enjoy Superhero adventures every weekday at 16:45 exclusively on M-Net.

The epic action-adventure Supergirl season 3, the Man of Steel’s powerful, kick-butt cousin swoops in to save the day every Monday. Then, on Tuesdays, Stephen Amell returns as billionaire Oliver Queen aka vigilante hero Green Arrow in the sixth season of Arrow, which quickly deals with the fallout from last season. On Wednesdays the temporal travails continue in the fourth season of The Flash, where viewers will find the speedster quite changed after being brought out of the Speed Force. And just when it’s discovered that heroes may not be enough, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 3 kicks off on Thursdays with the rag-tag group of villains in tow. Rounding out the week’s fantasy offering is the Emmy-nominated Once Upon A Time season 7 on Fridays, where a now grown up Henry Mills embarks on a new journey with real-life fairy-tale characters.

Also on the table this January is the popular reality cooking competition MasterChef Australia season 9 every weekday at 17h45, where regular judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston create kitchen magic alongside this season’s batch of aspiring amateur chefs.

The ever-anticipated Golden Globe and Emmy-winning medical drama Grey’s Anatomy has everyone asking, what’s in store for season 14? Find out from January 15 with two back-to-back episodes at 19h00 and 20h00, as the television favourites from Grey Sloan hospital return with a new arrival: Owen Hunt’s long-lost sister.

Tension between the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok mount as the Vikings continue to threaten the very heart of England in season 5 of Vikings, starting January 15 at 22h05. With Ragnar gone and Lagertha at the helm, an interesting saga awaits the Norse heroes.

Then, on January 18, meet up with television’s favourite undercover agents at 19h00 in the acclaimed NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 starring the seasoned LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell. This season features a special guest appearance from Nia Long. There’s more crime-fighting action on the streets of LA with former Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore in the brand-new action-packed S.W.A.T season 1, starting January 18 at 20h00. And if you can’t get enough of that special agent action, don’t miss the film S.W.A.T: Under Siege scheduled on M-Net 101 on January 20 at 23h00.

The popular legal drama, Bull is back on air with its second season on Thursdays at 21h00. Michael Weatherly returns as the charismatic, charming and smart-talking legal consultant whose unique firm helps clients prep for trials using revolutionary psychological techniques.

The show that continues to capture the hearts of viewers around the world, This is Us season 2 returns for another Golden Globe-nominated and Emmy Award-winning instalment. More compelling than ever, this season continues to dig deeper into the lives of the Pearsons exploring their flaws and tragedies as well as their triumphs and achievements from January 22 at 20h00.

Based on the acclaimed film of the same name, the dark Brit dramedy Snatch season 1 sees small-time criminal Albert Hill getting sucked into the high-stakes world of organised crime from January 25 at 22h00. Then, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are joined by songstresses Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson for season 13 of the Emmy-winning reality singing competition The Voice US on January 26 at 19h00.

Chicago Fire season 6 starts February 20 at 19h00: In the intense season premiere, Chief Boden makes a risky last minute decision to save the squad, who are trapped inside a burning building.

Chicago PD season 5 starts February 20 at 20h00: Chicago’s elite group of officers and detectives put the pin on crime, in this acclaimed drama, another fast-paced addition to the series, from Emmy-winning creator Dick Wolf (Law & Order).

Ten Days in the Valley season 1 final 6 episodes will air February 13 at 22h00: Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick returns to television for this edge-of-your-seat thriller about an overworked TV producer and single mother whose life is thrown into turmoil when her daughter goes missing.

Here Now season 1 will air Express from the US from February 12 at 21h00. The Oscar and Golden Globe-winning writer of Six Feet Under penned this introspective family dramedy about a multi-racial family consisting of a couple, their three adopted children and one biological child.

The Big Bang Theory season 11 starts February 14 at 19h00. The Golden Globe and Emmy winning escapades of a group of lovable, socially awkward scientists returns with just as much hilarity and entertainment. 

Young Sheldon season 1 starts on February 14 at 19h30: Based on the once-in-a-generation story of a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, this family comedy explores the young genius’ sometimes challenging and sometimes amusing life growing up in East Texas.

Homeland season 7 starts February 21 at 21h00: Emmy-winner Claire Danes returns for another season of Golden Globe-winning espionage in this acclaimed thriller exploring contemporary themes of American politics.

Longmire season 6 starts February 1 at 23h00: Based on the best-selling mystery novels, Longmire follows the adventures of a troubled county Sheriff. Robert Taylor (The Matrix) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) star.

Trial & Error season 1 starts February 9 at 23h00: True crime has never looked as ridiculous as it does in this outrageous comedy, from the producer of Angie Tribeca. A bright-eyed New York lawyer (Nicholas D'Agosto, Gotham) takes on his first big case: defending an eccentric professor (John Lithgow, The Crown), accused of the bizarre murder of his wife.

Riverdale season 2 starts February 24 at 20h00: Loosely based on the popular comic book characters, this intense, subversive teen drama follows the darkness beneath a seemingly wholesome small town. From Emmy-nominee Greg Berlanti.

Modus season 2 starts February 3 after Saturday night movie: Golden Globe-winner Kim Cattrall joins the cast for the second season of this gripping, edge-of-your-seat Swedish thriller. When the US President is kidnapped in Stockholm, her deadly disappearance and power struggles promise to unearth long hidden secrets.

Kevin Can Wait season 2 starts February 11 at 16h00: Co-created by and starring funnyman Kevin James, this family comedy follows a newly retired police officer who comes to realise that his house is more of a challenge than his job on the beat ever was.

Dancing with the Stars SA season 1 starts February 4 at 17h00: Twelve untrained local celebs will be putting their best foot forward to compete in this proudly South African version of the glamorous reality series.
