JAKOB AT VNAF

(Left: Bryan Hiles)

Written and directed by Michael Taylor Broderick and performed by Bryan Hiles, Jakob can be seen at the Virtual National Arts Festival. The production is adapted for the stage by Clare Mortimer with videography by Cobus van Heerden.

An engaging tale about a strange little boy called Jakob, and about love, light and everything reflected inbetween; prejudice; the search for comfort; the power of perceptions and the necessity of self-love.

Jakob is an interesting melange of mythology, folk tale and rural narration. It is set in a remote farming area where the elements are fundamental to the lives of the community. It has the texture of magic reality and springs into flesh and light and leaves searing brand marks in the eyes.
