LAUNCHING #MYKZNSA ON BACKABUDDY

A series of proactive interventions are in development to work towards ongoing sustainability, the first of which is a crowdfunding campaign on BackaBuddy, #MyKZNSA.

Message from the Gallery:

Since inception, The KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts (KZNSA) has become an important hub for the cultural and creative industries in KwaZulu-Natal. It not only provides a platform for emerging artists and creatives to showcase their work, but is also a space where the community can come together to celebrate these artists and the vibrant artistic excellence we have in KZN.

In recent years, funding for the arts has been dwindling both in SA and globally, and within these constrained economic conditions, The KZNSA finds itself in a difficult financial position. Persistent shortfalls in funding and income, outside of our control, have threatened our ability to operate at our optimum capacity, and compromised our ability to fully fulfill our mission to the KwaZulu-Natal creative sector.

Following a number of public engagements and valuable feedback, we are confident that The KZNSA remains an important and unique part of Durban’s / KZN’s artistic tapestry and it’s for this reason that we are reaching out to our members, the creative community, businesses, and the public at large, to assist us in addressing immediate financial challenges and in developing a new path towards future sustainability.

We urge you all to contribute towards our fundraising campaign today, in whatever capacity you are able to and assist us in stabilising our finances and in growing capacity to strengthen our operations.

Our strategy includes:

- An active Membership Drive

- Seeking & creating new Partnerships

- Jumpstarting our Educational Outreach Programme

- An Invigorated Exhibition Calendar

- Supporting emerging creatives through our Young Artist Project

- Capacity building in the province with our emerging Curator Programme

- Developing the critical writers of the future with our Writing Mentorships

- Representing KZN artists at national art fairs to launch their careers

Your ideas, thoughts and financial generosity towards achieving goals, are most welcome. As a public benefit organization KZNSA has 18A status and is able to issue tax exemption certificates for donations.

With your help and our financial situation improved, the KZNSA will continue to play its role in the artistic life of our City and our province.

Please share with your networks. This is YOUR KZNSA!
