MiTH takes place every second Wednesday at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm, Knoll Drive, Hilton.

Doors open at 18h00 and the music will kick off at 19h00. Entrance is R50 at the door. Food and soft drinks are available for sale. A cash bar is available.

The next function will take place tomorrow (October 23)

20h40: Erin Fourie

Erin Fourie is a Midlands-based musician who first began working the KZN music scene in 2003. Her love of music was cultivated from a young age, and she began playing guitar at 13 in her high school music club.

With an Honours in Drama and Performance Studies from UKZN Pietermaritzburg, and later working ad hoc for the Hexagon Theatre, Erin was afforded the opportunity to perform in several musical productions and many dinner theatre music shows at the Hexagon Theatre and the Hexagon Dive under the direction of Peter Mitchell. She was a regular entertainer at Hebron Haven Hotel for 15 years, as well as at private functions, restaurants, pubs, and music clubs.

Further afield, her achievements include being a top 10 Idols contestant in 2011 and playing Sister Berthe in the Durban Playhouse's 2016 production of The Sound of Music. Erin’s style is rooted in acoustic folk, pulling the songs she likes to play from many genres, and she can often be found playing at the Karkloof Farmer’s Market.

 19h40: Andrew Versfeld

Andrew B Versfeld is a multi-instrumentalist well versed in piano, guitar, drums, and clarinet. He has dabbled in many genres but has ultimately settled on blues and folk. Over the past 15 years, he has played in various bands and collaborated with various artists.

He began his career in Howick, busking and playing at various flea markets. Then he moved to the Drakensberg, where he became a regular pianist for Dragon Peaks Restaurant, playing gentle blues and soulful jazz while patrons dined. While there, he became a founding member of the Mountain Music Club.

From humble beginnings to touring around Kwa-Zulu Natal, Andrew eventually moved back to Howick to set up a studio where he currently produces albums, composes film scores and runs a YouTube channel.

Andrew’s piano playing has been described as warm and relaxed blues with a little bit of spicy jazz. He loves George Gershwin, Burt Bacharach, Ray Charles, and Billy Joel.

 19h00: Alan Strang

Alan returns solo to the MiTH stage after an absence of a couple of years. He will bring along a miscellany of songs which are dear to him: some old, some new, but invariably melodious.

Being a native of Scotland, he was strongly influenced by Scottish, Celtic, and pop and rock genres.

As a long-term resident of South Africa, his musical taste has broadened considerably, helped by involvement with the Buskers and TJs Folk Clubs in Johannesburg (and by regular attendance at MiTH, of course!).

From this, many collaborations resulted, with appearances at festivals, including Four Winds in PE, Barleycorn in Cape Town and many of the early events at Splashy Fen.

Alan was lucky enough to record many CDs and DVDs with the Waldorf String Band, initially as a backing vocalist, but in its latter years, as a fully-fledged band member. He recorded his first and only solo album, Reflections of a Dreamer, 30 years ago, on cassette tape (remember those?). You can find this and the Waldorf String Band recordings on iTunes and YouTube.
