CENTRE FOR JAZZ PRESENTS TWOSDAY

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents Twosday with vocalist Bongiwe “Ms Classic” Msomi on Tuesday July 29, 2025, and an all-female ensemble from Pretoria, JCFI led by Sibongile Anna Buda on Wednesday July 30 at 17h30.

Ms Classic as she is fondly known, is no stranger to the Durban audiences. She is a versatile singer equally at home in Opera (Playhouse Chorale, Soprano), Classical Music, Pop Music, Blues, Afro – Jazz and Gospel.

The talented Durban artist Msomi smoothly sashays in and out of these various genres. Her accolades include being crowned the Winner for Jazz in the Art and Culture Award at UShaka Marine. She has performed in Sibaya Casino, Stable Theatre, she has participated in a tribute show for late mom Busi Mhlongo at Bat Centre and has also performed at the Playhouse Theatre in different occasions.

In 2020, she released two singles Never Give Up and Ndimufumakandzi (I am a woman) that features a sweet mix of cultural crossover repertoire of Afro-Jazz with an influence of Maskandi

30        JCFI Music Ensemble Indlela Tour

On Wednesday July 30, 2025, at 17h30. The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents the JCFI Music Ensemble Indlela Tour, made possible through the support of Concerts SA, the Festival Enterprise Catalyst, SAMRO, the National Treasury Jobs Fund, and IKS Cultural Consulting.

The JCFI Music Ensemble Tour is an exciting musical event that brings to the stage a new generation of South African female jazz musicians. The tour features original compositions created and performed by the members of the JCFI Music Ensemble.

Audiences can look forward to an inspiring showcase of fresh, genre-crossing works that reflect personal stories, cultural roots, and contemporary influences. Each performance is a celebration of women-led creativity, artistic excellence, and the powerful role of mentorship in music.

The tour proudly forms part of JCFI’s broader mission to develop spaces for young female instrumentalists to perform, compose, and collaborate in professional settings. This event is proudly supported by Concerts SA, an initiative dedicated to supporting live music performance and mobility for musicians across Southern Africa.
