Suncoast Casino – for one night only!

The iconic Cinecentre in Killarney Mall will have hosted the most unconventional wedding review of the year on November 1. But this is no ordinary wedding – Shotgun Wedding is in fact an Arranged Marriage.
This is the latest comedy production from Yugan Naidoo, live in Johannesburg for one night only! This bold new production comes from theatre legends Yugan Naidoo and Vivian Moodley who have strong links with Durban.
This rip-roaring comedy blends political parody, music, dance, and sharp wit – all framed through the lens of a comedic-arranged marriage for an entire two hours. The storyline offers a fresh and entertaining take on the formation of the GNU while celebrating the unique energy of Yugan Naidoo’s brand of theatre.
With no offensive language, this family-friendly show promises to entertain audiences while encouraging thoughtful reflection on the country’s current political dynamics – all wrapped in humour and heart.
Why This Production
Stands Out
Shotgun Wedding is
one of the few full-scale theatrical productions tackling the GNU through
satire – and for those of you who think satire is something rather serious –
think again – satire is the art of making something look ridiculous by raising
laughter through how you portray the scenario. Here it combines clever
storytelling, spontaneous humour and live music to create a performance that is
both timely and timeless.
The cast features celebrated names from some of South Africa’s most iconic works –including Too Muckin Fuch, Generations, Isidingo, Imbewu – The Seed, and the globally-streamed Kandasamys series on Netflix. This production offers a rare mix of seasoned talent and social commentary – delivering insight with laughter and satire with soul.
Yugan Naidoo adds: “I haven’t had this much fun ‘marrying’ the idea of an arranged marriage with the actual formation of the GNU. You must believe there’s something more going on here. And this is our funny take on it. This production is more than just a comedy – it’s a cultural moment. We will never be here again! Come experience this totally and utterly unique comedy for the ages!
The show is presented by Chopped Liver Productions and takes place in Durban at Suncoast Cinecentre on November 14 at 20h00.
