SIBERIAN TRIO FOR FOM

Friends of Music will present an All-Beethoven Programme featuring the Siberian Trio on September 4, 2018.

The Siberian Trio features Liezl-Maret Jacobs (piano); Elena Kerimova (violin) and Boris Kerimov (cello).

Liezl-Maret Jacobs studied piano at the University of Stellenbosch and the University of Cape Town where she obtained her Doctor of Music degree. She served as Lecturer in Piano at the University of Stellenbosch for three years before taking up an appointment in the School of Music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban. She is one of South Africa's leading accompanists and concert pianists.

Elena Kerimova was born in Siberia, Russia. She studied music at the Novosibirsk Conservatoire where she won 1st prize for the violin. She has performed as a soloist with Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra and toured extensively through Europe and Japan. She re-located to South Africa in 1999 where she took up a co-principal position with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra

Boris Kerimov was born in Russia. He graduated from the Novosibirsk Conservatoire in 1987. He served as a co-principal with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra and toured extensively through Europe and Japan. He has also performed as a soloist extensively. Since 1999 he has held the position of principal cellist of the KZNPO.

The Siberian Trio’s programme will feature Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827) works: Allegretto for the Piano Trio No.7 in B flat major WoO 39; Violin Sonata No.9 in A major, Op.47 (Kreutzer); Cello Sonata No.1 in F major, Op.5, and Piano Trio No.4 in B flat major, Op.11 (Gassenhauer).

The concert takes place on September 4, 2018, at 19h30 at the Durban Jewish Centre. 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road. Tickets R120 (R100 FOM members) available at the door.
