Friends of Music will present a programme of superb Violin Duos on August 23 at 14h30 at the Durban Jewish Centre.
The programme features leading Durban violinists, Evgeny Zhadanov and Refiloe Olifant.
Evgeny is currently the Principal First Violin for the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. He was born in Moscow in 1976 and graduated from the Moscow State Conservatoire in 2001. He has worked with orchestras such as the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra.

Refiloe (Fifi) hails from Bloemfontein and studied music in Stellenbosch. She is currently employed by The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra as a principal violinist where she also features as an assistant concert master. She is also part of the baroque ensemble based in Durban called Baroque 2000. Refiloe specialises in Western Classical music and performance practice of the baroque period. She does, however, explore different genres when it is required.
The violinists will be joined by pianist Andrew Warburton
for the second part of the programme.
Andrew is presently lecturer in Piano and Music History, Head of Western Classical Performance Studies, and resident accompanist at the UKZN School of Music. He is regarded as one of the finest soloists, accompanists and chamber musicians in the country. He graduated from UKZN with a Doctor of Philosophy in Performance in 2019.
