PADDY LEARNS TO ROCK

The Irish are coming to town!

After a worldwide tour of all the pubs in the country, the hit musical Paddy Learns to Rock has finally arrived in Durban and promises to knock audiences’ “socks off” and fill them with the blarney at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from October 7.

After travelling the length and breadth of really classy watering holes where the drinks were free, the five worthy souls have still got enough energy to meander on a wonderful trip down memory lane with such classics as Danny Boy, When You Were Sweet Sixteen, The Leaving of Liverpool, The Wild Rover and many more Irish favourites.

But this is much more than just another “Irish” beerhall show. The top notch cast – comprising Catherine Mace (Chicks Rock, Guys and Dolls), Kerry Wood (lead singer from Durban band Rise and last seen in 24 Hours on Broadway), Cobus van Heerden (Neon Anthems, Catch!), Ricky MacGregor (California Dreaming) and Dave Arnold (numerous Dockyard Theatre shows) – will treat the audience to hit songs from some of Ireland’s greatest performers.

So expect to be blown away by songs from Chris de Burgh, Westlife, Van Morrison, The Commitments, Enya, Sinead O’Connor and U2.

To make this a truly memorable night out, 14 students from the Parker Studio of Celtic Dance will add their Lord of the Dance moves to the show.

There will also be a lucky programme draw each night with two finalists per night standing the chance of winning a Ibanez Electric Guitar from Coastal Music. Finalists will be invited to the final performance on October 26 where the draw will take place.

Paddy Learns to Rock runs at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from October 7 to 26. Several performances have already been sold to charities and corporates, so tickets are limited and early booking is advised. Booking is at Computicket on 083 915 8000.
