LALLITHA JAWAHIRILAL
Exhibition of media paintings at the African Art Centre.
Lallitha Jawahirilal is exhibiting her mixed media paintings at the African Aft Centre and the title of the exhibition is "We came to seek something on earth that we forgot to carry".
Lallitha Jawahirilal was born in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal and studied art in London before going on to lecture at The University of Durban Westville amongst other institutions. She has spent a number of years living in London and now in India, but visits her family In Ladysmith regularly. She has exhibited her paintings nationally and internationally.
The paintings have a dreamlike quality and explore spiritual states of being. Her paintings have poetic titles that are small poems in themselves.
“This will be the first time Lallitha has had a solo exhibition at The African Art Centre,” explains AAC director, Anthea Martin.
"We came to seek something on earth that we forgot to carry" runs until November 8. For more information, contact Anthea Martin on 031 312 3805, fax 031 312 3818or on 082 828 0211
