TOMBSTONE

Celebration of the life and teachings of Steve Biko for Pietermaritzburg’s Hexagon Theatre on March 6.

Presented by Mzansi Theatre Productions, Tombstone celebrates the life and teachings of the founder of the Black Consciousness Movement, Steve Biko.

Performed by Siphesihle Khanyile and Ndumiso Mazibuko, the play is inspired by how Biko encouraged black people to believe in themselves. The two actors feel that modern black youth need to be reminded about their past and their potential: "One of the things that inspired this play was the fact that we feel that many young people do not believe in themselves,” they say. “We wanted to remind the youth about their potential."

The two performers play numerous characters, using the stage as a platform for reawakening the proud spirit encouraged by Steve Biko.

Tombstone has performances on March 6 at 12h30 and 18h00 in the Hexagon Studio Theatre, Pietermaritzburg. Tickets R15 (R5 for students) at the door.
