The Heritage Arts Festival, KwaZulu-Natal’s premiere annual arts festival was honoured with a Silver Award at the Maxi Awards held in Hollywood on April 1, 2009.
“The Maxi Awards are a highly rated international award for retail centre promotions and all stakeholders are very excited about the recognition”, said Craig Mark the managing director of Kizo, the company tasked with coordinating the festival.
The Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Celebrate Durban, The Gateway Theatre of Shopping, The Business Support Unit, Traidepoint and the Independent Newspapers all support this important contributor to the promotion of arts and heritage in KwaZulu-Natal.
This award works to increase the profile of the festival and is a strong motivating factor for its extension on a year to year basis. Over 1,7 million people visit The Gateway Theatre of Shopping in September month, automatically making The Heritage Arts Festival one of the largest in Africa.
The Gateway Theatre of Shopping acts as a valuable platform for the promotion of the KwaZulu-Natal arts industry and the wealth of talent and culture that exists in our province.
The Heritage Arts Festival has increased in size and stature and the stakeholders look forward to the 2009 lineup. More information can be found on www.kizo.co.za.
