ANDREW YOUNG FOR CRESTFEST 2009

Third annual Children’s Arts Festival at Hillcrest Christian Academy.

Hugely popular saxophonist Andrew Young, formerly of Durban and now based in Vienna and playing to mass audiences all over the world, is back in town for one night only. He will appear at the Hillcrest Christian Academy on June 23.

The Hillcrest Christian Academy’s third annual Children’s Arts Festival offers a cornucopia of performances with the opening concert being presented by the KZN Youth Orchestra, as well as workshops, art exhibitions, book stalls and eats.

The highlight will be the evening performance at 18h30 with Andrew Young and his original band from Cape Town in a programme of gospel and secular favourites along with jazz vocalist Natalie Rungan, String sensation BraVa and local band 34South. Members of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the baton of conductor and arranger Ian Holloway.

Tickets R50 (R30 pensioners) are available from Computicket, Hillcrest Kwikspar, and Hillcrest Christian Academy. All children under 13 accompanied by an adult will be admitted at no charge, but it is requested that a donation in lieu of their ticket price be placed in the CHOC boxes (All donations taken up will benefit CHOC directly). This year, 50 percent of profits from the concert will benefit CHOC Children’s Cancer Foundation based at Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban.

Workshops on offer will be Mosaic, Painting, Drama, Choir, Steel Drums, Ballooning, Bead Jewellery, Guitar, and Soapcrafting.

The festival runs from 09h00 to 14h00 on June 23 and there is no charge for entry or for performances during the day. The Hillcrest Christian Academy is situated at 2 Blessing Ninela (Fischer) Road, Bookings are also available for arts and crafts related stalls.
