Grahamstown to host annual cultural show from Hindu Student Society.
The Hindu Student Society presents the annual HSS Cultural Show in Grahamstown on August 22. This show has been running successfully for the past 10 years and has been recognized as the largest student organized event in South Africa having grown both in stature and popularity.
This year, the show has attracted international guests from India which, together with national guests, has heightened the standard of presentation. It is currently the only event which incorporates the participation of a variety of personalities from the student population. The Cultural Show provides a platform to societies such as the Ballroom Society, The Rhodes Drama Department, Mapuntsula, Hindu Students Society and Muslim Students Association members, Greek Society, African Drum Soc and even students who have their individual talents such as music groups and bands.
Other religious organizations such as the Muslim Student Association join hands in a collaborated effort in making this show a success. The greater Grahamstown community has time and again given their support to this event, in the form of sponsorship, catering and even manpower. Surrounding towns such as East London, Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and cities as far afield as Johannesburg and Durban participate and attend. This year, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Hindu Student Society’s Cultural Show.
The show takes place at 17h30 on August 22 in the 1820 Settlers Monument, Grahamstown.
