KZNPO & Singers to perform Mozart in Emmanuel Cathedral on September 18 at 7pm

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Naum Rousine, is set to appear in the Cardinal’s Concert on September 18 in the beautiful interior of the Emmanuel Cathedral in Durban’s city centre. Under music director Ashley Roberts, this year’s annual fundraiser in aid of the Denis Hurley Centre Fund features a line-up of greatly gifted students from UKZN’s Opera School and Choral Academy (Osca), who will performing in an all-Mozart programme of excerpts from Cosi fan tutte and Don Giovanni.

Making a special appearance with the young singers are their highly accomplished professional mentors, Bronwen Forbay (soprano) and Lionel Mkhwanazi (tenor), who will perform Fuggi, crudele, fuggi!, the great Act I duet for Dona Anna and Don Ottavio from Don Giovanni. This highly dramatic piece, sung by these two fine artists, should justify the price of the tickets alone!

The concert takes place at 19h00 on September 18. Entrance R50 includes a free programme. Free secure parking will be available. The Cardinal’s Concert is part of the Celebrate Durban Spring Season. For further information call 031 306 3595.
