CHASING TALES

Fun holiday entertainment for the young and young at heart

The enchanting children’s show Chasing Tales returns to Durban at The Zone at Suncoast from September 26 for a short season.

This award-winning production, which was presented by the Playhouse Company to sold-out audiences last year, is a delightful comedy of song, dance, mime, puppets and story-telling for everyone from the age of four.

The 50-minute magical, mystery tour features a ditsy fairy godmother, bubbly Red Riding Hood, ballet-dancing Cinderella, Michael Jackson-like Big Bad Wolf, matador-like Prince, disco-queen Snow White, a colourful sangoma and Irish-dancing Goldilocks with her cuddly and bouncy Three Bears.

Presented by Suncoast in association with Black Coffee and Very Very Big Productions, Chasing Tales is thoroughly witty, thought-provoking and entertaining.

Candy the sangoma finds herself locked in the library after her mischievous dog, Floss, mixes up her throwing bones. Cinderella’s fairy godmother appears from the books on the library shelves and together they combine their magical powers to conjure up characters and objects required for an escape spell from the covers of the books.

However, along the way, the characters get slightly mixed up and the audience is asked to help untangle the mess!

Directed by Mark Hawkins, the choreography is by David Gouldie, with sets and costumes designed by Greg King.

Chasing Tales runs from September 26 to October 4 daily at 10h00 and 12h00. Tickets R50 booked through Computicket on 083 915 8000 or available at the door 45 minutes before the performance. For more information, call 083 540 6024.
