Umcebo Trust appeals for plastic or cork wine corks.
The Umcebo Trust at uShaka Marine World’s Village Walk has begun work on its Umcebo Eco-Tree in an attempt to set a world record.
Originally planned as a four metre high beaded tree, the structure is now an Eco-Tree, so the cladding will be made from wine corks and Eco-Beads, made from 2-litre soft drink bottles.
“The tree is pretty large, so we need large amounts of materials,” says Robin Opperman, director of the Umcebo Trust. “With the switch to screw-cap wine, we are particularly keen to get all the wine corks (plastic and cork) that we can lay our hands on. If you could collect for us, we would hugely appreciate. Please tell all your friends to collect for us. They can come and view their contribution on the tree, as it starts to take shape. Any help with corks would be hugely appreciated.”
