Artist Themba Shibase will be receiving his Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Durban University of Technology on September 8, 2009. As part of his graduation, Shibase will be showcasing his works at the DUT Art Gallery in an exhibition titled Hybrid Culture – Durban II.

This exhibition will be a new presentation consisting of old and new work, accompanied by a site-specific drawing installation. Broadening the concept of urban cultural hybridity, the installation explores these notions tying together the traditional and contemporary way of presenting artwork.

Hybrid Culture – Durban II runs from September 8 to 30 and is open to the public from Monday to Thursday from 08h00 to 16h00 (Fridays 08h00 to15h00) More information from Curator, DUT Art Gallery on 031 373 2207, email: artgallery@dut.ac.za or visit www.dut.ac.za/site/awdep.asp?depnum=22367
