The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates the stars of tomorrow.
The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra proudly presents the annual National Youth Concerto Festival on September 24. The festival forms part of the Celebrate Durban festivities and features the cream of young South African musicians. Eight young artists were selected from 60 candidates who auditioned at five centres around the country.
The KZN Youth Wind Band will also perform at this prestigious event under the baton of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra’s resident conductor Lykele Temmingh. The concert celebrates the talents of South African youth in a concert that broadens their horizons and has become a springboard for launching the careers.
On the night of the concert Friends of Music present a pre-concert talk at the Royal Hotel at 18h15. The talks are designed to enrich the experience of the concert goer. The admission is R30 pp and light refreshments are served.
The National Youth Concerto Festival takes place at 19h30 on September 24 at the Durban City Hall and forms part of the World Symphony Series Spring Season which takes place every Thursday at the same time until November 12.
