SCROOGE'S TALE

DPHS Senior Primary presents their first school production in supper theatre format.

DPHS Senior Primary’s DAKK (DPHS Artz & Kulture Klub) proudly present their first school production, Scrooge’s Tale, an adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. The story revolves around Ebenezer Scrooge, a penny-pinching miser in the first degree. He cares nothing for people around him; he believes mankind exists only for the money he can make out of them. He particularly detests Christmas, which he views as 'a time for finding yourself a year older, and not an hour richer'.

On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley. Marley, as miserly as Scrooge, is suffering the consequences in the afterlife and hopes to help Scrooge avoid his fate. He tells Scrooge that he will be haunted by three spirits. These three spirits, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, try to show Scrooge the error of his ways. But does their message get through Scrooge’s hard exterior?

Performances take place on September 21 and 22 - doors open at 17h30 with curtain up at 18h30. Tickets R30 (R20 four to 16 year olds) with under fours free.

Seating for the production will be supper theatre style, eight seats per table, please bring picnic basket and drinks (no alcohol). Tickets are available at the DPHS Media Centre, Gordon Road, Durban (weekdays between 07h30 and 08h00).
