Fundraising exhibition and audition to acquire works for Tatham Art Gallery’s permanent collection.
The Friends of the Tatham Art Gallery (FOTAG) in Pietermaritzburg are currently hosting an exhibition titled FOTAG Fabulous Picture Show in the Tatham’s main exhibition room until November 19. This will be followed from 18h00 that evening by an auction of the work. Potential buyers are encouraged to make preliminary offers to purchase before the auction date.
These is a FOTAG fund-raising initiative and many artists from all over KwaZulu-Natal, and even further afield, have responded to the call for donations of small works to be exhibited and auctioned.
The exhibition features works by artists such as Terri Broll, Terence King, Diamond Bozas, Siyabonga Sikosana, Jinny Heath, Brendan Bell, Juliet Armstrong, Joyce Boyley, Shan Jacobs, Carol Spencer Domijan, Tone Kjeldson and many others. In total there are about 230 works, all beautifully framed in simple gold, silver or dark frames. Bids start from R100 for most works. Sizes are mostly A5, some larger.
The highest bidder wins the opportunity to own an original work by one of the sought-after artists. The proceeds will go towards acquiring works for the Gallery’s permanent collection. For more information, contact Kobie on 033 392 2801, Jinny on 033 342 3354 or Anne Raubenheimer on 033 345 5474.
