THE FIXER

BBC Entertainment series combines gripping crime stories with engaging characters.

The Fixer returns for a second series, continuing to combine gripping crime stories with engaging characters, warmth, humour, and moral complexity. Existing in the hinterland of law enforcement, the undercover team – Mercer the passionate assassin trapped by his past, Rose the intuitive ex-cop, and Calum the reckless petty thief, plus calculating boss Lenny – deal with criminals, big and small, who are outside the normal reaches of the law.

The team’s success lies in their freedom to do whatever is necessary to exact their own form of justice. It is this success that brings them under the radar of MI6 who want to make the unit their own, leaving the team fighting for their very survival.

Series Two opened with a two-part story in which the team’s investigation into armed teenage gangs and cannabis farms leads to the revelation of a trade in child prostitutes. Other stories include Rose honey-trapping the serial killer responsible for destroying her career in the police, and Mercer facing his nemesis in a soldier-turned-heroin dealer. Against the backdrop of these stories Rose and Mercer’s on-off relationship threatens to blossom, Lenny faces a slippery adversary in MI6, and Calum’s relationship with his new wife Manuela inadvertently puts her in grave danger.

The cast includes Andrew Buchan; Peter Mullan; Tamzin Outhwaite, and Jody Latham. The Fixer is screened on Mondays at 21h30 on BBC Entertainment (channel 120 on DStv).
