Local is Lekker an exhibition of jewellery working to this theme to be opened at the Artisan Gallery at the end of the month.
Artists who hale from all corners of South Africa, students as well as professionals will be using local materials and combining these with sterling silver and other metals to create innovative new jewellery with a distinctly South African feel. The idea is that they are producing work for soccer fans as well as locals.
The Artisan’s walls, too will be adorned with paintings, drawings all within the theme so this should be a truly South African exhibition well worth seeing.
Local is Lekker opens May 29 at 12 noon and runs to June 20. Artisan Contemporary Gallery is situated at 344 Florida Road. More information on 031 312 4364.
