Rosamund Kendal's book recently launched in Durban.
Rosamund Kendal’s Angina Monologues was recently launched in Durban through Adams Bookshops.
Imagine life in a rural KwaZulu-Natal hospital. Three medical interns from very different backgrounds converge there and are faced by the results of gang assassinations, rogue snakes and total AIDS denial. Here pampered Rachel struggles to establish her independence and learns to love across the racial divide. Conservative beautiful Seema struggles to end her increasingly abusive relationship. And street savvy Nomsa finally learns to accept a past she has spent a lifetime denying.
If this sounds like the recipe for only comic satire, beware. Rosamund Kendal’s first book Karma Suture became a bestseller around the country not only because it made its readers laugh and cry, but because it exposed the bizarre reality of South Africa’s Health System. Her new book The Angina Monologues is suggested as a good read ”for a multitude of edgy insights into our hospitals and the new society emerging around us and some great entertainment.”
Rosamund Kendal hails from KZN. She practiced as a doctor for five years before deciding that her creative side had to be given some stimulation. She enrolled for the Masters Degree in creative writing at UCT and now practices both medicine and writing part-time.
