Parklane Superspar & The Weekend Witness present Jazz Festival in the Botanical Gardens in Pietermaritzburg on June 19 from 12h00.
Providing Afro Jazz will be Tsotsitaal, a seven piece band led by pianist Neil Gonsalves who will play a set of original compositions, Latin-inspired music along with traditional Afro-jazz with one of South Africa’s rising stars, the dynamic Sinikiwe Zoe Masuku on vocals and international acclaimed Mageshen Naidoo (guitar)
There’ll be jazz standards and the American Song Book from The George Mari Band whose extensive repertoire includes standards ranging from All of Me to Zukile. They feature Melvin Peters (piano), Ildo Nandja (bass), the legendary Bruce Baker (drums), Debbie Mari (vocals) and George Mari on trumpet.
Maritzburg guitarist Nhlanhla Mnikathi and band will add a home-grown flavour to the festivities.
