NAF: KRUISPAD

“Kruispad sukkel die bult uit” (Review by Thomie Holtzhausen)

Wim Vorster’s new drama Kruispad tells the story of a household set in turmoil after the husband and father is murdered in Crossroads. During a very long 110 minutes, the secrets, deceptions and lies of a family unfold. A very good attempt at writing a legendary piece unfortunately falls flat mainly due to, in certain cases, very young actors cast as older people. It simply doesn’t work and turns the play into an expensive high school production.

The laboured text tries too hard to establish an epic piece aided by sex, violence and rituals. Vorster provides a text that is archaic in language set in a modern milieu performed in a variety of styles not assisting the plot. - Thomie Holtzhausen
