BOSMAN EVENING!

(Pic: Lorna Burd and Barbie Meyer)

Charles Bosman themed evening for one night only on August 27 at Riverbend.

Barbie Meyer and Lorna Burd, freshly back from their 3-show Bosman Festival in Durban, have decided together with Howard Kelly from Riverbend Croc Farm, to put on a one night only Bosman themed evening on August 27.

After having performed her last Bosman solo performance just over a month both locally and at the Grahamstown Festival, Barbie was thrilled to be joined by Lorna Burd in two of her shows at the Durban Bosman Festival. Now residing in Canada, Lorna Burd shares Barbie’s love of theatre and Bosman’s work and together they make a formidable and hilarious team. They performed at the festival to great applause and were humbled by the ongoing appreciation that newcomers to Bosman’s work have. They have now been persuaded to give locals a taste of Bosman’s best before Lorna heads back north.

Together the girls have chosen a programme of their favourite Herman Charles Bosman stories. These of course, will be interwoven with delicious titbits relating to Bosman’s extraordinary life, as has become the signature of Barbie’s script writing style. Bets Basson, is again in the director’s seat so expect laughter, wit and pure sparkling entertainment in a truly South African style.

Audience members are invited to dress in theme - Marico Chic! - and anything goes! Think khaki pants held up by a piece of string and veldskoene or blou kappies and boere style rokke…a white rose in a hat, a pipe or a piece of khaki bos! Bosman books and a bottle of Jeripigo will be given to the best dressed ‘Bosmanphile’. The evening will kick off with Witblitz & Jeripego tasting at 18h00. This will be followed by the first half of the show. During interval a choice of two thick boere broths & breads will be served in the Riverbend Restaurant. Thereafter the second half of Bosman’s hilarious stories will commence.

The Bosman evening takes place on August 27 at 18h00 for 18h30 at the Riverbend Conference Centre (Croc Farm) on the South Coast near Ramsgate. Tickets R100pp includes Jeripigo tasting, show and supper and there will be a cash bar. Booking essential on 039 316 6204 or 082 818 4552.
