Timothy Moloi, who was recently seen performing at the opening ceremony of the FIFA 2010 World Cup to an estimated global audience of 500 million viewers, will perform his first one-man show, A Few of My Favourite Songs, at The Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban. With his smooth-as-velvet voice and masterful range, Moloi is one of South Africa’s most extraordinary talents.
As the title of the show suggests, Timothy Moloi will perform a selection of his favourite music, ranging from musical theatre hits to his popular cover versions of songs by well known artists such as The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and even Mika, interspersed with conversation with the audience about his connection with the songs, in an informal atmosphere. Well-known to Durban audiences for his performances with The Jonny Cooper Big Band, he will also perform music from the big band era made famous by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jnr and, more recently, Michael Bublé. Audiences can also expect to hear music from his double SAMA (MTN South African Music Awards) nominated debut album Love That Music which was released last year, to critical acclaim.
Shows take place on August 13 and 14 at 20h00 with two performances on August 15 – at 14h00 and 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.
