MIDM FOR JOMBA

Moving into Dance Mophatong is juggling a hectic schedule which will see it presenting work in Durban, Pretoria and Johannesburg over the next two months.

MIDM returns to the Jomba! Contemporary Dance Experience in Durban to perform Threads. Created for MIDM’s 30th anniversary by Sylvia Glasser who collaborated with the internationally acclaimed poetess Lebo Mashile. Threads can be thought of as a verbal dance or a physical poem which is a cross-cultural and cross-generational artistic display of dance and poetry and deals with gender relationships, cultural and artistic identity. Performances will be at 19h30 at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre at the UKZN Howard College campus on September 7 and 8. Further information from Jabulani Nyandeni on 011 838 2816.

Gauteng and Pretoria dance lovers will get to see Blankets of Shamewith original music and songs composed by local musician Louis Mhlanga and Nhlanhla Mahlangu at the Wits Theatre on August 22 and 23. Ma-Brrr is the stage production of the life and music Brenda Fassie, directed by Jerry Mofokeng and starring Lesego Motsepe. With the choreography of MIDM’s Themba Nkabinde, Ma Brr will run at the State Theatre from September 9 to 26.
