Di van Wyk juxtaposes two types of odysseys in her artSPACE Durban exhibition.
In The Road Less Travelled due to open at artSPACE Durban on August 23, Di Van Wyk aims to link together the landscape of the human journey and the passage through the physical landscape. She juxtaposes the two types of odysseys by depicting the human in their environments and the quiet landscapes they encounter.
People start and end life on journeys into the unknown and most of her landscapes depict country roads or lanes disappearing into the distance, showing that one’s destination will always be a mystery.
Van Wyk uses mixed media on canvas that includes oils and drawing media to depict these images.
The Road Less Travelled runs from August 23 to September 11 in the Front Room Gallery at artSPACE Durban, which is situated at 3 Millar Road (off Umgeni Road) close to the Waste Centre. More information on 031 312 0793 or visit www.artspacedurban.co.za or www.artspacedurban.blogspot.com
