The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Music School will host three concerts – two lunch-hours and one in the evening - in the week August 16 to 18.
August 16: Lunch-hour concert featuring Shaka Zulu, King of Kings, a theatrical/musical/cultural show that relates the history of the late King Shaka Zulu. The production has been running since 1996 with a cast of 33 members aged between 18 and 48 years. Shaka Zulu has been performed extensively both locally and internationally at festivals in France, Holland, Hungary, and Belgium. The concert takes place in Howard College Theatre from 12h15 to 13h00 and entrance is free.
August 18: Lunch hour concert featuring classical piano students from UKZN who will perform a selection of pieces. These students are in their first to third years of study and are students of Filip Kormuth. The concert takes place in Howard College Theatre from 12h15 to 13h00 and entrance is free.
August 18: Evening Concert hosting Mexican-American concert pianist, Gustavo Romero, who will perform a selection of works by Chopin in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
