The annual performance of I Love A Piano, a celebration of pianos and piano music directed by Christopher Duigan, comes to Hilton College Theatre on October 22.
Bringing together music from the worlds of jazz, classical and popular music, this much-anticipated event sees an invited stellar group of celebrated performers in a variety evening concert showcase. Included in this year’s performance are popular Durban artists pianist Evan Roberts and Shelley McLean (vocals).
Accompanied on piano by Evan, Shelley will sign popular songs from jazz standards and musicals to contemporary pop hits and also joins Evan in a two piano/two vocal combo. Visiting London-based Joanne Rozario on alto-saxophone plays music from ‘nuevo’ tango composer Astor Piazzolla together with pianist Christopher Duigan.
Duigan is joined by fellow KZN concert-pianist Andrew Warburton at two pianos for a dazzling selection of music for two pianos by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This follows rave reviews at their recent Hilton Arts Festival performance.
