As part of the Current Legal Issues masters course, internationally acclaimed artist Andries Botha will deliver a lecture at the Faculty of Law, Durban on November 10 at 17h15 in Howard College Building. His lecture is titled Things We Are Not Allowed To Say.
Andries Botha is the sculptor responsible for the now-controversial Elephants in the city (and for the statue of Shaka at King Shaka International Airport). The Elephants have been shrouded for some months after an order - apparently from a senior ANC politician - that they be covered because they are the symbol of the IFP. Andries Botha has taken steps to protect his and the public's right, and is willing to share with the audience his thoughts about this ongoing political (and now potentially legal) drama.
Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP in order for the organisers to assess venue size (and catering needs) to Chris Gevers (gevers@ukzn.ac.za) or Kabitha Maharaj (maharajkb@ukzn.ac.za) The lecture itself will happen in HC 1 on the ground floor of Howard College building.
