As part of its festive season package of shows to be seen in December 2010, The Playhouse Company will present Buckled, the hilarious comedy two-hander directed by Krijay Govender that focuses on Marriage, as seen up-close through the perspectives of a particular couple’s domestic experiences.

Back by popular demand following its sold-out performances at the Playhouse in 2008, the runaway hit show again stars Leeanda Reddy (Isidingo) and Meren Reddy (City Sesla / Scandal) as the couple in the spotlight, who also play various other characters that intrude in their lives and relationship.

Buckled is described as a must-see comedy. It is a fast-paced, energetic show that will take audiences through all the bizarre and delightful experiences leading up to an Indian wedding. Yash and Shelen first meet at primary school and are destined … or is it doomed, to be together. We follow their rocky journey and encounter a host of hilarious characters all determined to have their spotlight in the couple’s special event.

Buckled, which runs from December 7 and 11 at 20h00 (with a matinee on December 11 at 15h00), has had eight theatre nominations including Best Actor for both Leeanda and Meren and Best Director for Krijay. Leeanda and Meren ditch their onscreen drama personas to play all the comedic characters in this show! It’s a real whooper!
