MAKIN WHOOPEE!

(Chris Luke and Tonya Koenderman )

For its first show of the year, the popular Stirling Theatre in Durban North goes back in time with two accomplished artists: vocalist extraordinaire Tonya Koenderman and saxophonist supreme, Chris Luke.

Makin’ Whoopee is a tribute to the old classics: Mack The Knife, Fever, In The Mood, My Baby Just Cares For me, Tequila, Makin’ Whoopee, Masquenada, and many more!

All their numbers have a touch of swagger and a taste of pizzazz, as only these two could do. Both are known for their larger than life personas, and are guaranteed to keep audiences smiling from beginning to end.

Tonya Koenderman is no stranger to cabaret, having started her career at the end of 1990 in the trio Doo Wah Girls. Since then she has performed all over the world, as far a field as Australia, Ethiopia and Morocco. Locally she has performed extensively for Sun International.

Chris Luke is a popular regular on the Barnyard stage. He has also toured extensively around Europe, and most recently starred in Rouge Pulp with Amra Faye-Wright to critical acclaim and standing ovations.

Makin’ Whoopee runs from Thursdays to Saturdays at 20h00 from February 3 to 5 and again from February 10 to 12. Tickets R80pp.

The Stirling Theatre is situated in the Italian Club along Fairway near the Beachwood Golf Course. Take your own picnic or snacks but the venue offers The Italian Club’s optional a la carte menu for patrons wishing to eat, and a fully stocked bar at affordable club prices.
