YESTERDAY ONCE MORE

(Melanie Roberts and Marion Loudon)

Durban theatre stalwarts Marion Loudon and Melanie Roberts, who teamed up last year in the hit Carpenters’ tribute show Yesterday Once More, are back for a short season at the Heritage Theatre running from January 11 to 23.

The production will showcase music from the Carpenters who were the biggest-selling group of the 70s. No fewer than ten of their singles went on to become million-sellers and by 2005, combined worldwide sales of albums and singles well exceeded 100 million units. Yet the Carpenters were much more than creators of beautifully crafted and hugely successful hit records. Within the space of just a few years their unique and inimitable sound had brought a new dimension to the world of popular music

The show is a purely musical and de-constructed look into the works of brother and sister super-group, Richard and Karen Carpenter, known to the world as simply “Carpenters”. Included in the song list are Close To You, I Won’t Last A Day Without You, Top Of The World, Only Yesterday, Rainy Days And Mondays and We’ve Only Just Begun, as well as their famous re-arrangements of other artists’ music such as Ticket To Ride, Please Mr Postman, Solitaire, I’ll Never Fall In Love Again and many more.

Yesterday Once More again features Barry Thomson on guitar and vocals, with musical director Dawn Selby on keyboards, Glen Turrell on bass and Andy Turrell on drums, pedal steel and anything else he can get his hands on!

Yesterday Once More runs from January 11 to 23. Tickets R190 Wednesdays to Saturdays (R165 Tuesday dinner and Sunday lunch) includes a two-course meal. There are three promotional “low-price previews” on January 11, 12 and 13 when the two- course meal and show is R150.
