Westville Boys’ High proudly presents Mindfunk. This play about the disillusionment of teenagers with their parents’ generation was written by celebrated playwright Hennie van Greunen based on the novel, Breinbliksem by Fanie Viljoen. Breinbliksem won the Sanlam prize for youth literature in 2005.
Experience the story of Burns, as he and his two mates go to the greatest rock festival of all times, Mindfunk. Here their lives will be changed forever. The production is high energy, the pace frenetic and the teenagers lives are spinning out of control – because for “generation X-box, the only real sin left is anger.”
Mindfunk stars Scott Roberts, who at age 17, won strong critical acclaim for his portrayal of Salieri, in Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus. He is supported by Ashley van Heerden, Aydn Parrot, Rudi Wies and Leyya Muslimm. Veteran actress Lisa Bobbert makes a cameo appearance as Burns’ mother and the show is directed by Leendert de Jager.
Mindfunk runs from February 1 to 11 at 19h00 at the Roy Couzens Theatre (WBHS campus). Tickets R30, available at WBHS and at the door.
