Music Revival will host a cello recital with Nigel Fish in Pietermaritzburg on February 25 and 27.
Nigel Fish comes from a family which has been closely associated with music in Pietermaritzburg for many years. He studied at the University of Cape Town, in Amsterdam and in Aachen, Germany. He was an original member of the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and was appointed Principal Cellist in 1986, a position he held until 1996. After relocating to Germany he played in the Symphonie Orchester Aachen and various other ensembles in Germany.
Nigel recently returned to Pietermaritzburg where he intends to further his involvement as cellist, educator and coordinator of various musicals activities in KZN. This will be his first major recital on his return to Pietermaritzburg where he is joined by former (cello!) pupil Christopher Duigan at the piano. The programme includes music by Beethoven - Cello Sonata No 2 in G minor and a selection of short and entertaining works.
Performances will take place on February 25 at 19h30 and on February 27 at 15h30. Tickets R80 includes wine and coffee (iced tea and coffee on Sunday). The venue is 35 Montgomery Drive. Booking is essential on email: bookings@musicrevival.co.za and parking is secure.
