Durban Girls’ College presents the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown based on the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M Schultz with book, music and lyrics by Charles Gesner, with permission from Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc.
This famous Broadway and Off-Broadway production is based on the characters created by Charles Schultz in the Peanuts cartoons and it includes favourites such as the stalwart Charlie Brown, his almost-human dog Snoopy, his critical friend Lucy, her long-suffering younger brother Linus, Lucy’s tomboyish friend Peppermint Patty and their intense musician friend Schroeder.
The audience witnesses snippets of their lives accompanied by a beautiful musical score that includes the jazzy Suppertime and heart-moving number Happiness. The cast has six leads, a chorus of singers and dancers and a live band and orchestra led by musical director Ronel Perks and pianist Kim Siedle on a set created by multi award-winning set designer Greg King.
The production is directed by Wendy Watson with Kenlynn Sutherland as Associate Director and Choreographer. Black Coffee is responsible for sound with Tina le Roux on lighting design.
“The show is a wonderful celebration of our humanity and the wonder that is life! It’s suitable for all ages and we hope to see families enjoying it together,” says Wendy Watson.
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown opens on March 22 and runs until March 25 in the Centenary Hall at Durban Girls’ College. Performances are at 19h00. Tickets R70 booked by phoning Mrs Jacci Lewis on 031 268 7239 or emailing jlewis@dgc.co.za
