MY FATHER’S GUITAR

The story of a 12-string guitar will be presented by the Tim Wells Blues Band at The Rhumbelow Theatre from June 3 to 12.

Tim Wells and his blues band are certainly no strangers to Durban audiences and are guaranteed to enthral audiences yet again with their musical virtuosity and collection of popular material. This collection of familiar and popular songs centres on a 12-string sunburst acoustic guitar which was given to Tim's father in the early 1970s, shortly before his death at only 37.

The story of the guitar lives on beyond its owner and plays songs which Tim's Dad once played and many others which he would have no doubt enjoyed playing and which Tim and his brother Chris played together over the years.

The Tim Wells Blues Band shares the stage with the Tenada 12-string guitar and covers artist such as Neil Young (Needle and the Damage Done, Heart of Gold), Simon and Garfunkel (Slip Slidin’ Away), Creedence Clearwater Revival (Who'll stop the Rain), Fleetwood Mac (Gold Dust Woman), Cat Stevens (Father and Son, Where do the Children Play), Pink Floyd and more, plus some original pieces from the Tim Wells Blues Band.

The band is currently recording their debut album and comprises Tim Wells, Nux Schwartz, Peter Enslin, Smelly Fellows and Steve du Plessis.

Shows take place on June 3 and 4 at 20h00 and June 5 at 18h30. There will be a repeat run from June 10 to 12 with the Friday and Saturday shows at 20h00 and the Sunday show at 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.
