The Mandala Companion is produced by the Midlands Arts and Crafts Society (MACS) based in Pietermaritzburg.
The book is the result of someone asking for more information about mandalas as well as some guidelines for people who might want to embark on the journey of making mandalas themselves. It is a collaborative project, involving a number of MACS members as well as Stephanie Alexander who gives historical and spiritual background and Bridget Berjak who writes about the therapeutic benefits of exploring one’s own creativity generally, and specifically making mandalas. There are also some gentle hints by Jutta Faulds to guide those who wish to explore mandala-making as a personal experience.
Responding to the interest in The Mandala Companion, Jutta Faulds offers Relax @ MACS lunchtime Mandala-Making sessions revealing the relaxing and therapeutic effect mandala making has on the harassed. These take place on Wednesdays during June from 13h00 to 14h00 at 23 Haldane Road, Pelham, Pietermaritzburg (on site parking via Ritchie Road entrance). All equipment needed and a light lunch is included in the cost of R50. Bookings through Joy on 033 386 6500.
