Parklane Superspar will present their annual Concert in the Park in The Botanical Gardens, Pietermaritzburg, tomorrow (June 12) at 12 noon.
This is a day-long event that will provide entertainment for the whole family with world-class performances - a full symphony orchestra, internationally acclaimed soloists and amazing young talent playing the best of South African music.
The Wykeham Collegiate Wind Band Preview performance starts the programme off at 11h00. This will be followed at 12h00 by My AfriKan Dream performed by a 12 piece band, vocalists and chorus. Maritzburg College and The Wykeham Collegiate explore 50 years of South African music showcasing amazing young musical talent and the wealth of contemporary South African cultural heritage. Songs include The Click Song, Weeping, Special Star, Kinders van die Wind, Ndihamba Nawe, Doo Be Doo and many more,
At 13h15, international solo guitarist James Grace will play Spanish guitar music.
At 14h00, the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Richard Cock, brings a fresh approach to the Concert in the Park with new programme content, soloists and Richard Cock’s unique style of relating to and involving the audience. The line-up includes a special selection of music for children.
The Caledonian Society Pipe Band will march through the avenue of trees during interval at 15h00.
