ABSA KKNK: CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Production houses, artists and arts practitioners can submit performance proposals for the 18th Absa KKNK which will take place from March 31 to April 7, 2012, in Oudtshoorn.

“The Absa KKNK welcomes proposals in a variety of genres, including drama, dance, musical theatre, music and visual arts but is especially interested in proposals that can be included in our Oudtshoorn Oraloor programme of place-specific theatre; that will increase the visibility of our arts programme in the streets and that works with themes that portray the diversity in Afrikaans,” says Brett Pyper, CEO of the festival.

According to Theo Kemp, Programme manager of the Absa KKNK, a new heritage project is being planned. “The main goal of the project is to explore local and regional stories and character through the arts, as well as developing the artistic talent in the broader Klein Karoo region in all ways possible.”

Those interested can send a motivation of 500 words to Theo Kemp before August 22, 2011.

The application process is now free of charge for artists. Application forms are available online at www.absakknk.co.za or can be obtained by contacting the Absa KKNK office at 044 203 8600, or by e-mailing info@kknk.co.za or program@kknk.co.za. Closing date for all proposals is August 22, 2011.
