Broadcasts opens at the KZNSA Gallery on October 4 featuring Christian Mugnai, Duane Smith, Paul Senyol, Pete Reynolds and Wesley van Eeden.
The idea behind the exhibition is to capture people from various communities in South Africa and translate their ideas into different media such as painting, photography, illustration and film. In many ways it is about empowering those that don't have a voice or people who would like to share their opinions with the world. The project is presented by five artists from South Africa who will take this concept and exhibit their own version of the theme which will create interesting compositions and interpretations.
Two of the artists - Wesley van Eeden (Durban) and Paul Senyol (Cape Town) - have recently returned from an artists’ residency in Finland, where they initiated this project by interviewing people from the Nordic regions.
Some of the themes explored in this exhibition are people's dreams, hopes, fears, ambitions and vision for their city and country.
Broadcasts runs in the KZNSA’s Main Gallery and Multi-media room from October 4 to 23. The KZNSA Gallery is situated at 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, in Durban. More information on 031 277 1703, fax 031 201 8051 or cell 082 220 0368 or visit www.kznsagallery.co.za
