PLAYHOUSE TEST DRIVE

‘Crocodile’ (gumboot dance) Ulozolo (indlamu) groups perform in the Playhouse Company’s next Test Drive lunch-hour programme on October 11. This features the Crocodile gumboot dancers and Ulozolo indlamu yezinsiswa groups. Admission is free and all are welcome at this popular outdoor lunch-hour entertainment event. You can also enjoy an excellent cup of coffee and a fine selection of refreshments before or afterwards in the Playhouse’s Coffee Shop.

The Playhouse Company’s 2011 Test Driving the Arts development initiative runs in the Playhouse Port-Cochere monthly until December. These popular lunch hour programmes offer a free platform for aspiring groups wanting to make the leap from the amateur to professional performance circuits, in Pantsula, Hip Hop, Gospel, Isicathamiya, Afro Jazz, Township Maskandi, Isigekle and other contemporary music and dance styles.

Test Drive on October 11 runs between 13h00 and 14h00. These events offer audiences enjoyable lunch-hour recreation in the heart of Durban’s CBD, while affording valuable talent-spotting opportunities for event organisers looking to enrol fresh new artists.
