The highly anticipated film, Angus Buchan’s Ordinary People, is scheduled for Cinema Release on April 5 in theatres nationwide. The film explores the phenomenal impact of Buchan’s Mighty Men Conference on the lives of ordinary people.The plot (based on true events) skilfully follows the individual journeys of three ordinary South African men in the build up-to their attendance of the 2010 Mighty Men Conference, where their lives are forever changed by God’s message for them.
The home-grown cast includes Anton Dekker, Jaco Muller, Lucky Koza, David James, Kate Normington, Robin Smith and Norman Anstey. Original footage of Buchan from the last conference at Shalom Farm is also incorporated.
Although Ordinary People opens with Buchan’s story, the focus of the film quickly reverts to the three interwoven stories: Lucky Nzimande (Lucky Koza) is a misguided criminal who attempts to hi-jack an ex-special force policemen on their way to the Mighty Men Conference; André Cloete (Jaco Muller) is an alcoholic young adult on the brink of self-destruction; and John Peters (Anton Dekker) is a middle-aged panel beater, whose life is falling apart at the seams.
The local flavour of this film continues with its original score by South Africa composer and musician Mauritz Lotz. The film also includes music by international Christian artist, Michael W. Smith The crew filmed on locations across South Africa including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Limpopo and Greytown.
"The making of Ordinary People was - and still is - an amazing and life-changing journey,” says director FC Hamman. “It was a pleasure working with a very dedicated crew and some of our most talented actors. Angus Buchan is an inspiration to me and I am fortunate to call him my personal friend."
