In what they describe as a "scoop" of a lifetime!”, Friends of Music will present Baroque 2000 on May 1, promoting the event as “The music is charming, fun and happy and is a definite must see.”
Baroque 2000 is an acclaimed and well-supported chamber orchestra of 16 (full string, two flutes, two oboes & bassoon and three solo voices (soprano, tenor, baritone/bass).
The Concertmaster is Ralica Cherneva with violins (Geza Kayser, Petya Koleva, Refiloe Olifant, K Olsen and Lidia Sanacor); Viola (David Snaith); Celli (Todorova Pechoux and Fiona Grayer); Double bass (Simon Milliken); Flutes (E Ballantine and Petra Conrads); Oboes (Margrit Deppe and Nina Basnec); Bassoon (Vessela Minkova), and Harpsichord (David Smith).
The Prelude Performers are two Japanese sisters, Erina and Emiri Nishii (violin), both students of Isaac Melamed.
The concert takes place on May 1 at 19h45 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort Road (K.E. Masinga Road), Durban. Tickets R70 (FOM members R60, R20 orchestral / students). Booking is at Computicket. There is safe parking.
