Forming part of the Playhouse Company’s 2012 Community Arts Festival is We Salute Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow , which appears in Programme 2.
Written by DV Ndlovu, and directed by Xolani Dlongolo and Sthembiso Zwane, We Salute Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow depicts a true story about women who marched to the Union Buildings to hand over the petition to the Prime Minister on August 9, 1956, when many women were brutally murdered and others were seriously injured.
The story is told through powerful music, monologues and flashbacks. The cast includes Nondumiso Mfeka, Noxolo Mathula, Nana Mkhize, Thembelihle Ngcobo, Syabonga Mbili, Zamokuhle Masondo, Mpilwenhle Magubane, Mzwandile Ntombela and Thobani Zwane.
Performances of CAF Programme 2 will be at April 19 at 18h00, April 20 at 11h00 (schools) and April 21 at 14h00. Admission is free to all CAF performances at The Playhouse.
