KZNPO PRE-CONCERT LECTURES

The six-week winter symphony season of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra starts in the Durban City Hall on May 17, and those attending the weekly concerts are encouraged to take in the pre-concert lectures, which aim at increasing the enjoyment of members of the audience.

The lectures, which are given at 18h15 on concert evenings, have moved to a new venue. This is situated in the supper room of the City Hall, below the main foyer. The speakers discuss the evening’s programme in a non-technical, practical and humorous way, including excerpts from the music to be played. Many of those who have attended in the past have said that their appreciation of the music has been greatly enhanced.

The speakers for the coming series are Dr Teddy Pillay (May 17); Bobby Mills (May 24); Ted Brien (May 31); Michael Green (June 7); Ted Brien (June 14), and Michael Green (June 21).

The lectures last 45 minutes and admission is R10. Refreshments are available for purchase before and after the talk.
